about us
TINGHA
Tingha is a one off catamaran designed and built in Germany in the late 1990s. We think that the design uses elements of boats designed by James Wharram and Richard Woods plus Hobie 16 style asymeteric hulls. Tingha was intended for cruising in remote areas and so has a very simple fit out. She has also been designed to be very resilient with huge crash compartments in the bows and sterns and a strong rig.

about the Team
Tingha is being looked after by Helen and Robert whose previous boat was a Wharram Tiki 30 that they sailed from the UK to Spain via the Canal du Midi in France. Robert and Helen bought Tingha in order to have a more comfortable space for a liveaboard home than a Tiki 30 can provide but still have a boat that conformed to the ideas of James Wharram on what makes a seaworthy boat.
A bit More....
Helen and Robert first met when they were sailing their respective Wharram catamarans at Milbrook, Cornwall, in the late 1990s. They subsequently met again in 2004 and not long after bought their Tiki 30, Mango Elephant, which they sailed extensively in the UK between Lindisfarne and Poole and to France before setting off for 'Points South' in 2011 which they documented in a blog: https://mangoelephant.blogspot.com/. Helen and Robert are now retired and are looking forward to following the wind to new places aboard Tingha.
